Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find…?

The toolkit is provided with a search facility which can find things on the site. Type a search term in the search box on the right hand side and click on return (or click the 'search' button). The site will show a variety of pages which contain the word as a list. You can then select the most relevant one.
Alternatively, use the site map to see the whole site on one screen and see which section is most likely to have the information you need.

The video clips seem very slow. Can I speed them up at all?

Make sure you have the latest version of the software needed to play videos (typically Quicktime from Apple or Flash from Adobe) and quit all other applications while accessing the toolkit. Unfortunately videos do take up a lot of processing power and they will run slowly on older or less powerful machines.

The video clips play but I cannot get any sound. How can I solve this?

First of all check that sound is switched on and volume is set to a high enough level in your control panel (windows) or System Preferences (Macintosh). If you are using external speakers check they are properly connected and, if they need batteries, are powered. If these fail to produce sound check your video-playing software is up-to-date.

Do I have to be connected to the internet to use this toolkit?

At the moment you have to be connected to the internet to use this toolkit. Some pages can be copied and saved for offline use using the normal copy and paste features of your browser. Mac users can press Print in the File menu and save the resulting file as a pdf. This tends to produce a better file than simply copying into a word processor.

Can I copy / publish this material myself?

The short answer is ‘yes’. The longer answer is ‘yes, but with restrictions’. You can use it in training or development workshops and you can make copies of the pages for your personal use. You cannot claim any of the material on this site is yours. You cannot charge for the use of any material on the site.
Note that the site contains many links to other sources. The detailed use agreements at these sites must be consulted before you use any of the material you find there.
Everything on the site is covered by copyright - either this site or others’. If in any doubt about use of material here please contact us directly.
