Case Studies - Developing Resources

‘We are redesigning our careers web pages for our site and reviewing what materials we produce for schools. How do we ensure they are inclusive as well as realistic and appealing to young people?’

Advice

It is important to ensure that all resources represent a cross-section of people, and the following should help you to produce materials to ensure they include a wide cross-section of pupils. You could start by using the 'Table for Good Practice' and checking that the images, style, layout and content are suitable for a range of audiences. This might not be as difficult as it sounds - why not take a look at some of the posters in our resources to see how some people tackle this really effectively.

Remember that as well as imagery, the layout of the website should be appropriate for people with disabilities and those who might be from different 'under-represented groups' - refer back to the information on the 7 Strands of Equality and Diversity for more information on these.
